Hello Winner's Circle!

Mare purchased south of the border continues to improve for Gray

by George

The performance of the night on Friday at ASD came courtesy of Hello in the sixth race, and two Superfectas paid more than $2,000.

Hello, a 5-year-old chestnut mare trained by Lorna Gray for herself and partners Don and Gaye Bell, continued her improvement since being purchased south of the border this winter by Gray. She’s now 2-for-3 locally.

On Friday night she stalked a duel and smoked through a hole with her ears pinned when she saw daylight in early stretch. It was another willing performance by the Smoke Glacken mare and she might just get better yet.

Hello gave jockey Chris Husbands his 18th victory of the meeting to help him hold down third place in the jockey standings, two wins behind Jennifer Reid and four back of Paul Nolan. Hello paid $12 to win and capped a lucrative Superfecta of $2,126.50.

The Superfecta in the fourth race also paid well at $2,033.60 and the 15% Pick-4 returned a solid $1,010.50 after the winners of races 4-7 paid $5.90, $12.60, $12.00 and $10.50.

Jockey Adrian B. Ramos continued to roll with two more wins to give him a total of six victories, and singles went to Adolfo Morales, Skyler Whiteshield, Tori Gandia, Chris Husbands and Clint Magera, who was also winning his first race of the meet.

Congrats Clint! And nice work Lorna!
