Redeeming myself ; Best bet: Balooga Bull
Last Saturday turned out to be a real disappointing day for me, bankroll-wise. Betting two good winners in Big Bad Barry and Rising Icon and not having anything significant come of it was not good wagering strategy on my part. Last Saturday showed me some things and this week I will probably take bigger stands on things. I felt I was spread too thinly and need to really push on my opinions to show a profit. All told last week I got back a return of $121.85 netting a loss of more than $120.
This week is about redemption for me and getting back in the black. I have some strong opinions on the card and believe that money is out there to be made.
Saturday’s 1st race is a pass for me as I know nothing about quarter horse racing. The #7 Burnt Ivory is the most likely winner since but I doubt he will pay very much.
The second race Saturday is a full field that sets up well for a triactor wager. The lack of a clear cut favorite also makes it a race that is wide open. Jet Again is your probable favorite but he is vulnerable. Other options look to be Runaway Delite and Queen of Magic. Dr. Zing catches my eye a little bit and he should be a good enough price.
$1 Triactor Wheel 4,10/2,4,7,10/2,3,4,5,6,7,10 $30
$4 Exactor Part Wheel 4,10/2,4,7,10 $24
$4 Quinella Part Wheel 4,10/2,4,7,10 $24
$1 Pick 4 2,3,4,5,6,7,10/2/1,3,5 $21
The third race is a pass but I think Danger Rules cruises around in front and wins at less than even money. He should be loose speed and tough to catch.
The fourth race if it didn’t kick off Pick 4 wagering would probably be a pass as well. The Pick 4 makes it interesting as I will try to get some giant prices in this Pick 4. I like the Blinkers On numbers for Robbin Martens and this horse did break slowly on Aug 17th. Savuti, his second start of the year, is the speed and Kathy’s Catatak has been sitting on a win for a while.
3,5/3/3,4,6,7/3,4,9 $24
1,2,3,5/1,3/3,4,6,7/4 $32
The fifth race looks like it should be a dream setup for Lucky Brew. I used Exhilarated only because I think the pace could totally melt down and set up for her. She ran a good second last time to a repeat winner in Legs Eleven and the 2,4,6,7 all want to show early speed. This is Lucky Brew’s race to lose.
$20 Win on #3
$5 Exactor Wheel 3/1,2,7 $15
$1 Triactor Wheel 3/1,2,7/1,2,4,5,7 $12
The sixth race wagering will be dominated by Bellagio Road and Johannesbourbon. That is a huge scary class drop on Johannesbourbon and the speed duel won’t be to his advantage. He may win because he is much the best but the race is probably a pass; I, however, want to take a small shot against and bet Gear Shift to rally for Roger Hansen.
$5 Quinella Wheel 3/6,7
$5 WP on #3
The seventh race features Runaway Lion dropping in and he should be tough to beat. The possibility of his being over bet is real though and I will take a small shot against him in the win slot. Lacrosse and Pelee Island are my other two choices and I think Lacrosse could almost be loose speed.
$1 Triactor wheel 3,9/4/1,3,5,6,7,8,9,10 $21
$0.20 Super Wheel 3,9/3,5,6,7,9/4/1,3,5,6,7,9 $6.40
My $250 bankroll has been spent in seven races and I think I have a very good shot to make some good money. I will watch the quarter horse race in the last and think that Tanya Lindsay should be tough to beat.
