Saskatchewan Stallion Profile: Edison

(Bernardini-Heart of Grace by Exploit)

Edison brings elite bloodlines, versatility, and proven performance to the Manitoba/Saskatchewan breeding ranks.

By one of A.P. Indy’s most influential stallion sons, 2006 Champion 3-Year-Old Colt Bernardini, Edison offers breeders access to a sire line responsible for producing world-class runners, including Travers Stakes (G1) winner Stay Thirsty, Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) winner Art Collector, and multiple Breeders’ Cup champions.

Edison’s dam, Heart of Grace, is a half-sister to Astarita Stakes (G2) Broad Dynamite, and descends from a strong female family that has produced multiple graded stakes winners including Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) winner Very Subtle, further enhancing his genetic appeal.

A four-time winner on both dirt and turf and a double stakes winner, Edison’s biggest win came in the 2014 Canadian Derby (G3), where he dominated his rivals going 1 3/8-miles, winning by 11 ½-lengths.

Now standing in Saskatchewan, Edison has sired 66 foals of racing age, with 34 starters and 19 winners. His leading progeny include Sawchuk ($39,060), a stakes-placed runner in the Birdcatcher Stakes, Daddysrareedition ($29,324), six-time winner Sask Lady ($27,543), and track record setter Zippeddie ($26,671).

Edison’s foals have shown early speed and the ability to stretch out, mirroring their sire’s adaptability. For breeders looking to add stamina, versatility, and a strong pedigree to their program, he presents an intriguing opportunity.
